It is great to see your child return to school so ready to learn after the summer holidays. This page will hopefully cover all changes from Y2 into Y3 but if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
P.E. will be on a Thursday, please ensure both outdoor and indoor kit is provided as the weather is very unpredictable at this time of year. In a change to infants, there is no water fountain in the classroom so your child will need a water bottle every day that they will be able to fill up from the Lower Junior fountain. Your child can bring a small, healthy snack every day, this is to be left in their tray.
Reading books will be changed on a Monday by Mrs. Wood. If you would like more than one book during this time please let us know. Your child will bring home a homework/reading record. Please sign in here when a book is complete. Any comments from your child on how they enjoyed the book would be fantastic.
Homework is given on a Friday to be returned the following Wednesday. All homework set will have a cover sheet explaining about the weekly task. All homework is to be completed in homework books unless otherwise stated. Homework will include 20 minutes of Maths or literacy along with 20 minutes of R.E. or a science research question such as, ‘Why is the sea blue?’ If there are any questions about the homework do not hesitate to come and see me.
Your children will also bring home a spellings/tables test book. There will be a spelling test every Friday, with new spellings provided on the same day. The spellings will include 10 on a theme and 5 from the Year 3-4 key words list which can be found on this page. There will also be a times tables test every Thursday with new tables given on the same day. Tables form a very important part of junior life so if we learn them quickly we will have a head start.
I look forward to a successful year,
