Welcome to Miss Brown’s Year 2 class page. We always try to work hard and have fun every day. We live out our school motto ‘May Christ be seen in us’ through our actions and relationships with other people.
Our current focus is on the four number operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We are learning how to use these operations confidently with numbers up to 100 and beyond.
This half term we will be focusing on traditional tales. We will be reading lots of these stories and writing our own traditional tales. Within our writing we will try to use a range of interesting adjectives and different ways to open our sentences.
This half term we will be learning about the Great Fire of London. We will explore the events of the Great Fire of London and what life would have been like in 1666.
We try really hard to give our best effort in everything we do and work hard to earn awards. When we have read 5 reading books we earn a reading award. We pride ourselves on giving our best effort in everything we do and work hard to earn points in our Class Dojo. The class dojo winners receive a certificate each week in assembly. Our Class Dojo monsters go home with the winners on a Friday and are to be returned on the following Monday. Please help your child write something about their weekend in the dojo monster book.
What happens when?
Homework is handed out on a Friday and is to be completed and returned to school on a Monday.
Spellings are given out on a Friday and will be tested the following Friday.
Reading Books are changed on a Thursday and we ask that parents make a small comment in the reading record after listening to their children read.
P.E is on a Thursday so we ask that PE kits are in school on this day.
How can I help my child?
I appreciate all of the support you give your children at home. If you are able to listen to them read regularly and can offer support with their homework I am sure you will enjoy seeing the progress your children will make.
Many thanks for all your support
