Nursery – Mrs Clark
Welcome to the Nursery class page. We always try very hard in Nursery to have fun and make friends. We learn to live out our school motto “May Christ be Seen in Us” by being kind and helpful in everything we do and by learning to share and care for each other.
This half term our Topics are Autumn, Colours and Advent/Christmas. We will especially looking different colours we can see around us as the season changes and how to make different colours. We will be learning about the Christmas story as we prepare for our Nativity play.
On Mondays, we have Show and Tell. This is to help develop our confidence and our ability to listen to others too. The children could bring a small toy, a picture they have made, or something they have collected. It is not necessary to bring something every week.
On Tuesdays, it is our PE day. We learn to change our shoes as we get ready for PE and have lots of fun.
On Fridays it is our turn to visit the IT suite. This term we are focusing on using the mouse to draw pictures. Also on Fridays, the children will be given a Weekend Challenge. This might be connected to the sound we have been learning or involve making a picture or finding some information to tell the class. Completed challenges should be brought to school on Mondays.
How can I help my child?
The best way to help young children is to encourage them to be independent when it comes to dressing and going to the toilet.
Reading books at bed time is a great way to help children to learn to love reading. They could help to look for the sound of the week. These are always displayed on the Nursery notice board along with the number of the week.
Playing games and singing number songs will help children to count and to recognise numbers.
